Have the Homeless Become Invisible?

I came across this video the other day and was struck by its power.

  1. Andy, What strikes me most is that we live in our suburbs here in Cincinnati. We don't see that right in our own backyards (or a few miles away) there are people who live in poverty, drug abuse, and all kinds of various needs of humanity. We don't see it, we don't feel it, we don't sense it. Why? I think it is because our eyes are not open. We walk through life in our own little white worlds: Clean, neat and tidy. We don't see that there are scores of people who just need a meal, someone to make eye contact with them even at the least. It is uncomfortable for people to have to look at the lesser, more dirty parts of life. We don't want to get involved; we are secure within our suburbia. I can see how people in America don't see homelessness. They blame the homeless person for being in that situation; yet, all the while the scriptures tell the church to feed the hungry, clothe the poor and be the hands and feet of Jesus. Life can spiral downward for a person quickly. Without support a person can be on the street homeless. Open our eyes, Lord.
